This pattern provides the basic principles for the Thermal Stitch, allowing you to create your own beautiful and functional crochet projects.

Terms & Abbreviations:

  • ch(s) – Chain(s): Yarn over, pull through loop on the hook.

  • ss(s) – Slip Stitch(es): Insert hook, yarn over, pull through stitch and loop on hook.

  • sc(s) – Single Crochet(s): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.

  • BLO – Back Loop Only: Work into the back loop of the stitch only.

Special Stitches:

  • Starting Thermal Stitch (SThs): Insert hook into BLO of next st plus the unworked chain on the foundation row, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through remaining loops.

  • Thermal Stitch (Ths): Insert hook into BLO of next st plus the unworked loop on the row below, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through remaining loops.

Foundation:

Ch 1 (does not count as stitch), work SThs in each stitch across. Turn.

Row 3:

Final Row:
